Default Anyone computer savvy?

(Not sure if this is the right spot for it, but...)

I recently took the plunge and purchased LogBook Pro for Windows. It works fine and all while entering data, but when trying to create a report or analyze the information, I receive a "5000 error" stating its unable to create a report with data from a previous version.

I've been talking with the LBP tech support staff, but after two or three suggestions they have pretty much said I'm SOL. Any ideas? I've uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled numerous times. I've also cleaned out my computer's registry and even restarted my entire logbook database twice.

I use Windows XP, and have downloaded every available update or patch for Windows.

I really would like to get this to work, I spent close to 100 bucks on this thing and it will certainly make life easier. I'm *this close* to slamming my laptop with a hammer and asking for a refund from LBP.

Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of that error. I believe your purchase entitled you to 2 installs. It appears you used one for your current laptop. If you have a work computer or other desktop, install on that system also. Create a backup file from your laptop of all the data you have entered. Transfer this file to the other computer and open it. Try the same thing that caused the error on the laptop. If you have no problems then your laptop is jacked up not LBP. If that is the case slick your hard drive on the laptop and reinstall everything it took you years to accumulate. Back up your files to a portable HD first of course. It is painful but you really should nuke your hard drive every 1-2 years for it to run perfect. A clean XP install should fix your problem. If you get a new laptop you should be able to beg LBP to allow another install based on your trouble call history.

Most EULAs allow 2 installs *at a time*, meaning that if you uninstall the software from one machine you can install it on another and be in compliance with your software license.

So, copy your back-up file (logbook entries) and install the software on another machine. After the install copy your data file to the new machine. I'd venture to say that if doesn't work on a different machine, then it's a software (Log Book Pro) problem.
