CRJ-900 vs EMB-145
Somewhat curious as I'm considering options hat could take me from the CRJ I currently fly to the 145.
To those who've flown both, what are the pros and cons?
I know the 145 doesn't go as high or fast.. someone jump seating told me the 145 is easier to land.
My bag barely fits in the CRJ; likely the 145 sucks even more for space?
Navigation: does the 145 do white needles and green needles?
I've always thought it was so stupid that you can't stay in white needles, capture the localizer, and go approach mode. Going to heading mode, then approach after switching nav source? Any amount of strong winds aloft and it wobbles all over trying to recapture the loc.
I know, in the end an airplane is an airplane. Just interested in people's thoughts.

Closet for bags fits standard size bag fine.

The 145 has a crew closet right behind the cockpit which fits 3 rollaboards easily as well as some smaller bags on top. If I remember correctly the 135 only had a small closet in the front so....crew bags have to find a home elsewhere.
Additionally there's a bin on either side of the pilot for a flight kit.
The ERJ was a great little plane. Not super sophisticated but pretty honest.
I'd take whatever offered the better schedule/relative seniority/pay combo.

The -900 has significantly larger overhead bins than the -145, plus decent baggage storage in the entryway/ near the galley. Of course, the FAs usually snag those for themselves. On a -900 I'll usually put my main rollaboard in back, then my laptop bag behind my seat and the food cooler in the nice large bin where our paper Jepps used to sit.
Haven't flown a -145 so can't comment on how it is to fly. The -900 is a nice bird...it's pretty heavy on the controls so it's not really a joy to hand-fly. Performance is significantly better than a -200 but not quite as rocketlike as a -700 can be. In a -900 we'll do .82 all day long (especially on go-home day) and the airplane has no issues making it to FL370. It'll do FL390 but not in the summertime, loaded to the gills.
But really, the forward lav is probably the -900's best feature!
