Default Announced: CLE to remain hub for 5 years

Friend told me about some news conference that was going to take place in CLE today around 3:30 pm. So did a little digging for the local news sites there and came up with these:

Ohio Attorney General to announce agreement with Continental and United

Cleveland to Keep Continental Hub for at Least Five Years - WJW

Continental, United Airlines provide commitment to Cleveland - 19 Action News|Cleveland, OH|Breaking News, Weather, Exclusives

Cleveland: Mayor, AG say airport to remain Continental hub at least 5 years

Yep. Lil Jeff and Tilton will load the new company with any unnecessary burden to get this merger done. After all there are bonuses to get. CAL's 38 year old CFO is getting 8 mil.

With CAL's management ORD will be shutdown because of over competition.

Didn't see that article. It does sound like it is tied to the performance of other hubs or the system after the 2 year mark. If this anemic economic recovery accelerates to something more robust by the end of 2012 then it could bode well for CLE to at least maintain what they have. Who knows? I'm sure someone has figured a way out of this.

It's hard to believe people are so stupid. CLE doesn't have a chance, just like the bottom half of CAL employees.

Please tell me you forgot a smiley. Jeff and co are the enemy. Try to keep that in mind. You and I are left with the new airline long after he has bailed out with his golden parachute.

Much Love Luv:

But Jeff might be our only chance for survival because we, for all intents and purposes, are non-union. Our MEC Chair, Ornstein's former right-hand man, has lost his ability to sell the pilot group out to management; a long honored tradition @ CAL. Now his ambitions lie with ALPA Nat'l. He'll now have to sell us to United ALPA. Look for Huge fences, all UAL furloughees returning and all but the most Sr 737 CAL Captains being furloughed within 3 years. Still praying that this thing falls apart. Anyhow, CLE and post-Bethune CAL pilots are fkud.

With all due respect, you need to relax a little or you are gonna keel over due to a myocardial infarction. Breathe a little and enjoy what you can control.
