Now as far as parking all those 757s and replacing them with ordered -900, who cares.

First there are contractual issues with replacements and ratios and stuff (maybe there is a need for a new contract). Second they need to be replaced because they are getting old. And third the bad part is the -900 will never be a direct replacement for the 757.

The -900 can't ETOPS from DEN to HNL.
The -900 can't even go from the East Coast to SFO without a fuel stop if the winds are bad and one needs an alternate.

I could go on but neither Boeing nor Bus makes a direct replacement for the 757.

Hey but there is good news! The -900 has a smaller cockpit with worse jump seats... Oh that's bad news, no place to store bags either....

It's a sad day when we keep Fox and park 757s

:-(
Just curious as to who "WE" are in your above post...you just got my attention real quick like when you said.."maybe there is a need for a new contract"...MAYBE, MAYBE(hell yes I am yelling right now)..there is no maybe involved here, and if you are a part of WE, then you would know there is NO maybe here..btw, not a fan of scabs or the 37, but I have heard nothing bad about Fox in terms of his management position. fwiw.

I think he was being sarcastic with the "maybe".

Yeah well in my new hire class the System Chief pilot told us all we were going to be multi millionaires too. Oh, and about a year ago my chief pilot told a buddy of mine who he was flying with that we were going to have a contract any day.

Here is one that matters....due to a filed grievence on the L-UAL side, until we have JCBA and SLI, all S-CAL aircraft/flight are now consider off line for deadhead purposes and for travel to and from training. It matters because the L-UAL contract call for ALL off-line deadheads over 3 hours must sit in first class. I am headed to training tomorrow on S-CAL flights in First class.
Now do you want to continue to listen to SCABS telling how bad our airplnes are or are you going to fight to help improve our contract.

The WE is UAL.

Now if you can't se a bit of humor and sarcasm in your fit to be tied state then maybe you will see the light.

Now WE, the pilots of UAL (UAL and CAL) will get a contract soon or else "THEY" Fox and company will have very few pilots to fly any airplanes for UAL.

When I read this stuff about 757 parking verses CAL's orders for -900 and the fact that it comes from an over-age manager from the CAL side I read a lot of division being spread here by Fox. Is he trying to say LUAL pilots will suffer because of the 757 replacements?

Typical of most management (especially ex-CAL) they have NO CLUE WHAT"S IN THE CONTRACT!!! (Yes that was a shout).

The days of Fox are over, plane and simple.

PS. To bad SWA wanted 737s.

What LeeMat is posting about is some genius from the management side (I'll bet ex- CAL management) discovered the LUAL pilots have some serious deadhead requirements in the contract. So all of a sudden they are calling deadheading on UAL/CAL flights as "off line." The problem is the UAL pilots already figured out that issue long ago and have that covered in the contract also.

These guys aren't "penny wise and pound foolish," they don't even understand the value of copper these days.

Fox is not the CAL system chief pilot. The last time I heard, he was the chief pilot in IAH only. The system chief pilot is Steve Arnold. Correct me if I'm wrong. I heard the same rumor. Seems like an awful lot of seats to throw away....replacing them with 737's is well...not exactly a favorite with passengers especially to HNL out of LAX. Fox has been known for interesting rumors...

13 out of 93 757's are impervious to corrosion and overall age! They will be able to fly forever! Miracle jets!!!
