Now the 737 line will never shut down because everyone is ordering them as it is the only Boeing narrow body in production. It should have shut down in the 80's. Maybe 2080?
Kind like if the only car built in America was a 1969 Ford Falcon. But the good news is that they've incorporated an in dash navigation system and added third row seating. So all is well.

I keep telling guys that scope will be the difference between us being EMB-190 captains at United or EMB-145 new hire FO's at United Express. Easy choice for me.

"Large SWA orders are credited with keeping the assembly line open."

Truth!

Now would I rather be flying a B737 or a EMB145? Which pays more?

But have you seen any orders for 700s from UAL? The 100-130 seat market seems to not be a concern by our Mr. Mainline manager. But be sure that they have a plan in place...scope relief.

ALPA was fairly successful in making the airline pilot profession an upper tier profession both in compensation and working conditions prior to the mid 1970's. This was possible because the government regulated the industry and more importantly, the Civil Aeronautics Board acted to insure a degree of equality, equal pay for equal work, in the airline industry. Then a snake slithered into the industry via a rather innocuous freight company, Zantop, and the seeds of destruction of the profession were planted. With the help of Jimmy Carter and Ted Kennedy the industry was deregulated in 1978. Gone was the CAB but the RLA remained with its primary focus on preventing disruptions to the nation’s transportation system caused by labor actions as a result of failed contract negotiations. Today if you ask ALPA officials what they are doing to amend or abolish the RLA they will tell you that the subject of the RLA is “not even on our radar." Every ALPA member should rise up and insist that ALPA gets a backbone and lead the fight directly against the government and the RLA. And the snake…

Maybe we could allow ual to screw scope on the 73 at cal too and furlough another couple thousand. Funny thing is you never hear the swa guys ***** so much about their job. And that's what it is, a job. Not an rj at Skywest but a job at ual.

I am a big supporter of pay banding. I think it makes our company more competitive, while still paying us what we deserve. Where the company is able to save is in training costs, which can be steep.

During this contract period, all Captains should have no problems earning 200K or more and all FO's (except for first years) should have no problem earning 100K or more. I can't complain about this.
Yeah...because you're in management.

"Basically inline"? My lower posterior. Rather built in cost advantages for the duration, to insulate you from needing to manage well and a little extra to be squandered by your greed.

I on the other hand say start dumping gasoline all over the company's assets, 'cause there's going to be a fire.

5 year deal

-DOS - 11year B777 FO rate ... $158.91

-topping out in 5 years at $190.11

Is this what the leaked info says or do I have a good source? I can't wait to see the entire package {sarc}.
