Couple more questions then:
They are telling us New Hires expect 737 training staring in June.
Bid says they are 100 short in EWR for 737 seats.
What does the "rig" mean?
Just new guy questions....

A "rig" is something to attach pay to a credit hour. For instance, the 3.5:1 trip rig means that to get paid one credit hour you have to have 3.5 hours of Time Away From Base (TAFB). TAFB is also what you get paid for your per diem. I'm also assuming that it is the best of block (flight time), whatever duty rig there is (if any at all), and then the TAFB rig. So if you have a trip that blocks 20 hrs. of flight time and you are away from base over 70 hours, you would be credited off of the Trip rig. Because the Trip rig would give you more credit than the straight block time.

We have 5 hours min per day so a 4 day pays a minimum of 20 hours. Many four days start early on day one and finish late on day four. The TAFB for these are in he mid 80s. Let's say a 4 day blocks 23 hours and has a TAFB of 88 hours. 88/3.5=25.15. So the duty rig is e highest and that's what you will be paid. It is meant to give incentive for the company not to write inefficient schedules where you sit in a hotel all day to fly a late leg home on last day.

I don't think it will affect staffing levels. I think it may change the way the pairings are built and it will affect the amount we are paid.

It just seems odd that there are so many reserves in EWR while LAX and SFO are at much, much lower levels. This is on the FO side.
Today has 4 reserves available in LA, 1 in SFO and 4 pages worth in EWR. So EWR has about 50 reserves available and they are planning on adding an additional 100 FOs to that base?
