Default Reserve assigned trip 5 days out

Saw today that a reserve grabbed a 4 day trip that starts 5 days from now. Not a junior guy so not IOE or anything like that. Curious how this is possible? Again just trying to learn the contract. Didnt see anything about this in there. Thanks.

Well it starts the 21st and its assigned. Ive been seeing some weird stuff lately where the same few people keep getting all the trips. Its interesting when you look at the reserve availability and everyone has around 10-15 hours for the month and the same few ppl are always right at guarentee or higher. Again, maybe i dont understand the system, just observing whats happening.

With the new CCS are pilots allowed to block their monthly flight record?

"With the new CCS are pilots allowed to block their monthly flight record?"

You can't see anybody's calendar other than your own, so I guess the answer is yes, it is done automatically whether you want to on not

You can see everyone's initial monthly PBS award under the CAT Award Reports, but cannot see changes that may have been made to it after the award.

Could these be some of the pilots who are having trouble meeting consolidation?

I saw that too, and considered a PDR. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. I'm not gonna make consolidation, scheduling doesn't seem to care, and my flight manager is having trouble buying me any trips...

When I need landings we just call up the front office and they FBO (buy the trip) from the FO and block it from lineholders taking it. Hence, the reserves being "assigned" a trip more than a few days in advance.

The other option, which I'm a bigger fan of, is to go nonqual on landings, then go to DEN during my reserve days to do a landings class. Just like this month. I've done one LHR 3 day and then I go to DEN to get my 3 landings in. It's much better to bid reserve and dodge work versus being a lineholder and not be able to trade trips around.
