Best advice out there. Its ~$3million job over 20 years. Spend a few hundred $ to get prepared!

Airlines always hire up to the date they furlough. My advice to anyone switching companies and joining the bottom of a seniority list is save as much as you can. You should have at least 1 years pay in the bank at all times and even that may not be enough if we go through another financial melt down.
Good luck to everyone.
Good luck to everyone.

It is unlikely for that to happen, especially with the mandatory retirements, but you never know.

One of my FOs in 2001 had just left Eagle where he was a Captain there and had been there for 11 years. He was on the property about 6 months before he got furloughed at United.

Early 2008, UAL pilots, some recalled furloughs thought the worst was over. Well, 1500ish of them found out differently. And many of them, for the SECOND time.
You NEVER know.

Summer 2001 there was rumor of a slight furlough at UAL with the economic downturn that had started. However, on Sept 10th 2001, everyone was STILL OK......

Anyone attend the ERAU career expo on 10/8? Wondering if anyone has received a call or email yet? I felt I had a very positive mini interview. Trying to see the usual timeline after career events.

Which brings me back to my original statement. Keep your money in the bank. Don't think wow I made it I'm going to buy a new house and car. It has bitten many a pilot. The stock market can crash, so can house prices. But cash is always a good thing in your bank account. So is seniority :-)
