The youngest 747-400 is 12. Not even a teenager yet. Probably never kissed a girl either.

Socal,

Slip into your Sanuks and relax. We're just poking fun at the experts who scolded us how on just how full of fecal material we've been WRT to things we figured were cast in stone irrespective of how they were portrayed initially, by either mgmt or the line pukes. Its just funny how the turd rolls once loosed from its constriction.

Sharpen your arrows for those who would give your job to a 21 year old or someone from Abu Dhabi who would do it for half of what you do. Beers are still on me.

IT's such a small number of pilots being displaced I just don't know how it makes sense. I get it if a base is closing. but otherwise they should just attrit due to normal retirement attrition and upgrade movement. 60 displacements won't matter in a year. I bet IAH gets those displaced pilots back in a year to a year and a half anyways. How much does it cost the company to displace them to other bases or other airplanes only to have them come back if they so choose in a year or so?

No mak-e sense to me

I agree. It seems to be a complete waste of time to me too...

There is actually a much larger number of "excess" pilots in IAH 737 CA, for example, and the small number of displacements only represents the generous threshold above which the company cannot financially justify retaining them and waiting for normal attrition.

The mere fact that the company is in the middle of a retirement/hiring wave only exemplifies the poor chain of manpower decisions over several years that lead to this point, IMHO, on an otherwise growing fleet.
