Default "kool-aid" term?

I'm just curious, as a new guy, where the term "Drinking the company's Kool-Aid" came from. As I understand it, it refers to believing everything the company management tells you, instead of what the union says. Just curious as to the history, did the management used to serve Kool-aid or something during negotiations?

Do a google search for Jim Jones and his cult from the 70's.

I think it often applies to newhires, after being told they will fly a shiney jet with a mere 300 hours, whom begin to wet themselves in pure excitement.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonestown

It is from Jonestown. A cult that committed mass suicide by mixing poison with kool-aid. Brain washing and even "rehearsed" suicides led most to believe this was another practice and not the real thing. Drinking the kool aid is used when you will believe anything you are told without question.

Thanks a lot guys, I never made the connection between the cult and the Kool-Aid term.

Appreciate the info, I was wondering too but my assumptions were way off. Terrible what happend to the folks in Jonestown and to the reporters that were murdered at the airport while trying to leave just prior to the mass suicide.
