Default ALPA and politics

We are less than one year from the general election for President.

ALPA will back a candidate and we all have a personal decision to make.

Most (not all) airline pilots are conservative in values and lean toward Repulicans, however, the past 8 years of Bush have been less than supportive of our industry -- passenger and cargo.

Treading lightly here ... your opinions:

Who will ALPA endorse?

Will the endorsement affect your vote?

Which current candidate is most favorabe for our industry?

Most of us are not one-issue voters, but the impact on our careers is always influenced by Congress and the President. Major issues continue to impact our future from taxation to retirement, Age 65, foreign carriers, etc. (too many to list).

Weigh in and let the fireworks begin!

All I will say is:

Many candidates will "talk the talk" but will not "walk the walk".

Take it for what it's worth!

No One..took too much heat for the last endorsement and MEC sponsored resolution to not endorse any political candidate.

About as much as Tiger Woods telling me to buy a Buick

Go Rudy!!!

Whoever they are told to by big labor.

No

Please define; to me the candidate most likely to prevent terrorist attacks in the US is the one that will have the most positive influence on our industry.

Do you really vote for the candidate that will be the best for our industry? I am far more concerned with the 100 more relevant issues than who favors labor.

Plus, why is it that Bush is blamed for everything wrong and Congress avoids all responsibility.

Let us make all of our choices based on our sound fundamental beliefs of what is GOOD. Character and integrity ARE important.

Just as we shouldn't base our decision on whether or not they are in favor of labor, I can't believe how many people vote wholly on the religious viewpoints of a candidate.

Sound fundamental beliefs are important, as are character and integrity. However I don't think that they are any MORE imporant than a leaders ability to make sound unbiased decisions (regardless of religion, creed, sex, etc) on the many issues that affect the country and its citizens.

Just because somebody has the moral qualities of the Pope doesn't mean that he/she would make a good President.

Alpa blows, sucks, you name it, they have outlived their usefulness and need to die.
