ALPA needs a change at the top

As I look back at the last year or so since I've been flying part 121, I believe ALPA needs a new leader. I do not believe that Capt. Prater as head of ALPA is effective, I can not think of one good thing that he's done to help my career or any other pilot I know. The last time I was around a group of pilots from different airlines, they were all bitc*ing about how age 60 to 65 is affecting their career. These guys all work for FEDEX, UPS, Delta and Cal; I added my two bits about how it affecting me as a regional pilot. You should have seen there face when I told them that they were complaining about making 100 thousand plus a year for in extra few years doesn't compare to the work that we do at the regionals for under $30 grand. I do not believe that the 65 age change would have passed congress if ALPA would not have supported it and majority of ALPA didn't want it.
What do you all think?
Who did (does) Prater fly for?

Are you aware that the pilots of UPS are not represented by ALPA?

Instead of trying to "fix" ALPA, I think you should dump them and form your own independent union.

But its ok...these are the same airlines that will be asking for financial help from the federal government because theyre losing money.

It just does not make sense to me in a business sense to speed a half million on one person for five years on a very small work schedule. Kind of like comparing pay rates on for Northwest DC9 versus a Compass E175.

If there it some 'big picture' that Im not seeing (besides those pesky lobbyists) someone say something...

What planet are your on? The average regional airline is not big enough, (doesn't have enough pilots paying dues) to be able to afford to fight the company on more than a few issues. The company would simply violate the contract left and right to force the small in house union to spend what little money it has fighting them.

Of course, being on the larger equipment, it would probably make your life a whole lot easier if the regional pilots did not have a union, or had a small useless one. You know not of what you speak Sir.
