Default How to start a Pilot Union?

Unfortunately a lot of companies in Europe do not have Pilot Unions. Since I work for a company that doesn't have one as well, what can one do to get one started? Let me just give you a little bit of information on why a Union has never been put into place.

Basically, the pilots are scared to step up because if they do they have this fear of being sent to the Simulator for Recurrent and getting cut. This seems to happen in Greece quiet often unfortunately. They don't like you, they will find a way to screw you, and the simulator seems to be their favorite. Of course they will deny this ....!

I have been talking with a lot of guys in the company lately and they all seem they want to start one, but none wants to get their hands dirty for the reason I stated above.

The company is great, new planes, new routes every few months, but some of the crap we need to deal with just doesn't happen anywhere else. They can easily take advantage of you.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried contacting http://www.ifalpa.org/ ?

As labor laws vary, advice you get off a predominantly US based board may not apply in Greece. An organization like IFALPA may be better prepared to answer your questions - and do so in confidence.

Thanks for leading the charge!
