July 29, 2009

Dear ALPA Member:

Pursuant to Article IX, Section 14D(2) of the ALPA Constitution and By-Laws, when the cash balance of the Major Contingency Fund (MCF) drops below $69 million in 2009, I am required to report on the status of the MCF to the membership on a quarterly basis. As of June 30, 2009, the MCF balance is below $69 million. Yep...mandatory assessment to begin shortly as required. Funny, there were people elsewhere who predicted it would happen in the third quarter of this year and were summarily dismissed as malcontents.

And continue to be dismissed, because they dont really have any idea of how or what the MCF does. But since you are an active volunteer in ALPA please enlighten us, unless you are the 80% that sit on the sideline and preach, similar to the kooks on the corner in timesquare.
