777 FO vs 737 FO, QOL & pay at SFO

[QUOTE=pilotgolfer;2167135]I just say that to point out the fact that it's very relevant to answering your question. Your answer is very simple in my mind. If you are going to live in Tahoe, 100%, no questions asked, stay on the 737. If you will be below 80% seniority on 777...your QOL will suck until they fix the short call issue"

the orig poster asked for constructive advice and reitierated his request to stay on topic. he's asking about intentionally bidding to be a reserve pilot and live hours away in mountains.
the answer isn't to lobby the LEC to "fix" the reserve. the answer is to choose not to bid to be a reserve pilot and live hours away in the mountains.
don't answer with the standard "reserve can affect all of us sometime" line. the orig poster is asking about doing this to oneself intentionally. and it seems like a bad choice

So, weighing the pros and cons of a 777 bottom feeder FO (reserve) to a 737 line holder FO at SFO.
Enough trips to pick up for a 777 FO on reserve at SFO to better your life?
More lucrative 737 FO lines at SFO to make up the pay difference of the 777?
Probably be living in Tahoe, so long drive.
Any constructive advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bump.
What's the current life like for an in-base SFO FO reserve on the 777. I have
been watching the Crew Companion reserve list and looked at the bid packages, and it doesn't look like people sit at home all month.
I can't tell how easy it is, but my goal would be to bid reserve and stay at home, but I don't know how many people are commuting to reserve and aggressively picking up to cause the numbers I see.
Thanks
Edited: added SFO

Lots of domestic flying--early show late return, short calls handed out like candy. There is essentially no long call. I would advise against commuting to reserve in SFO 777.
If you live in base, it's actually not bad, except for bay area traffic. Ample opportunity to pickup MX ferries in addition to the last minute occasional senior man trips. Get paid for short calls to stay at home.
