MEC just screwed me out of $1500

Agreed.
Publicly backing a candidate who is owned by the ME3 and then telling us how to bid on vacation months to maximize pay right before pulling the rug out from under us.
We pay $50 million per year in union dues for THIS?
I can't wait until the profit sharing grievance payout is made and ALPA withholds 5% again just in case they are sued.
Hey fellas....how bout taking care of being sued with the $50 million we already give you each year???!

Are you playing the long game or the short game?
I am in the same boat as you, extremely low guarantee and vacation for November. I was hoping to pick up extra flying but will now enjoy my 21 days off instead. It isn't going to make a significant difference in my finances if I don't get another 10 hours next month. I would prefer the Mec play the long game and get this system set up to works automatically and does not base pay bumps solely on crew pay's discretion.

You must be assuming the MEC is playing only for the PTC pay issue, I don't believe it because we had a system that worked perfectly- one simple email and paid the next day. They have totally screwed that up. If they want to play the "long game" as you call it, and perhaps make PTC always meet MPG, or other such iteration- that is an issue for regular contract negotiations- not screwing your pilots out of pay and schedule flexibility.
BYW, as I like to remind myself as I head to the links like today- the money is in the short game.

So, several weeks ago the MEC made a bid deal of getting the company to pay up for pilots who picked up flying in vacation months, that had a low PTC. In fact a policy was set up to email payroll to get paid. For November I bid "low" since I have vacation and that would leave me the flexibility to pick up a turn on a day I choose and make up the cash- . Enter the MEC who can't decide what they want. According to a memo out today, the company will no longer pay up- at the demand of the union. I'm screwed for November since I bid low, based on the new practice. Wonder how many others are in the same boat. What a stupid thing to do. They should have waited at least until December so everyone- (other than union insiders) would know how to bid.
Add it to the list of **** we kicked down the road until atleast 2019.............money, money, money, mooooooonnnney

Thankfully independent contractors like you all aren't running our show.

I love how anxious some pilots are in finding any fault with the sole reason they enjoy the compensation they do. Your short sightedness reminds me of the criticism of the MEC voting down the original FAR 117 extension AIP. You all gonna ***** about the extra 4.42%/1%/4% pay raises we're getting over the next 27 months?

The problem here is that the union sent out very specific emails explaining how pay would work in vacation months.
Then…we bid for November.
Then…….they told us they changed the rules and we would lose money.
That's a problem, sport.

1. Company unilaterally screws hundreds, and perhaps more, pilots out of pay for years. Both regular pay and overtime.
2. Union tries to get the company to fix the problems.
3. Company disagrees and does nothing, effectively giving pilots the raised middle digit.
4. Union takes the next logical step.
5. Pilots ***** and moan about the union.

This. Interesting that the company isn't willing to put something in writing that they were already doing.

6. Pilots SE taxi even when it's an idiotic idea. "Gotta save the cumpnee!"
7. Pilots refuse to use one scintilla of common sense and leave APU off until the last minute. Pilots oblivious to the cabin temp, or are so focused on avoiding spending a few bucks for A/C, (the cost of doing business...you know, taking car of the PAX) that customers board a smelly, hot airplane. The plane then takes 20 mins to cool off. So what if pax they paid over a grand for their FC ticket? Gotta save that money!
8. Company laughs at pilots and uses over 3B$ to buy back stock.
9. Company hires former Lorenzo buddy and Allegiant guy for the board.
10. Company hires venture capitalist type / leveraged buyout type lady for the board.
9. Pilots go to WalMart on days off to buy goods from China. WalMart is air-conditioned. WalMart is also free from pesky organized labor.
