UPS to hire 63

I think he sees it for what it is. Its not going to be a bed of roses here, even if we get a bunch of retirements and a great contract in the next 10 years. I'll still be here ! Embracing the stagnation, the paycheck, and the Luv that only brown can deliver.
Boiler, I happen to like a menage a trios. As long as I am outnumbered

Brother (or sister), I was just busting your chops a little as it seemed your talk about leaving was just lip service. Are you really giving it your 109% to get on elsewhere, doing everything you possibly can, applying everywhere, networking, job fairs, etc.,? Because the way you write about it, it comes across as if you are just waiting for Fred to single you out and pull you aboard the purple lifeboat; if accurate, this weakens your Brown victim argument. If you really wanted to leave you never would have come back...........?
No one is denying that you guys got f'ed, but it doesn't make you special. Or exotic. Not in this biz. I'll bite and let you shut me up here but the difference between you and me is that I expect that kind of treatment from brown. What made you think you were different?

I'm far from special, believe me. As to what I am doing to get out of here, that's up to me, but believe me that I am trying. You never answered my question, and that fine. Saying I got Féd (along with 108 other guys) is one thing, living it is another. You say you expect that kind of treatment, well expecting it and LIVING it are two totally different things.
My guess is you are far senior to me, and have not endured what "we" did. Does that make me special, hell no, but it does mean that my perspective and yours are on completely different levels of existence. We simply cannot have a comparitve conversation unless you have lived it, that's all I am saying. I'm not better, nor worse, and certainly not special.
As to your "come back" comment, believe me that if I had a better option that I would have. Hard to get a job with "furloughed brown"nailed to your resume. Don't believe me? Try it sometime. I was amazed at how many people naively thought that you could just walk up to DL,AA,AS, whoever and just get a job. Too many other carriers had been burned by furloughed guys, we were no different.
So we have drifted quite far from the intent of the OP's thread, so to bring it back to my OPINION, is that if the people applying here have other choices they should exercise them.
Carry on......

Look, I'm on your side and generally agree in many cases there are better options. But for others brown is a great choice. Understand that you are the rare person actually trying to get out. Since you are in the job market, don't you think guys who spew out extremist information about a job make your decision making process more difficult? That's all I was trying to get at. I thought I mentioned in this thread that I was a newb in this recent hiring wave-wasn't avoiding the question. But don't go and tell us that anyone who hasn't been at brown for x years isn't qualified to an opinion; for most of us this ain't our first rodeo.
Guys come on here hoping for good information. Why not give them concrete stuff to work with, positive and negative instead of barking them off? I agree that most other majors are better options but IMO, marginally at best. I got friends at every carrier and none of their experiences or contracts are compelling me to jump ship but some of the movement is pretty attractive.
I would hazard on making comments about the caliber of recent new hires ("not hiring the best anymore"). Comes across as particularly condescending especially when you are blindly speculating from an uninformed view point. You'll be quite surprised to discover what the cat has dragged in these last couple years.
I hope things work out for you and wish you the best of luck. Emerald coast interview prep is the best advice I can offer.

That remains to be seen. I don't think anywhere near that many (200) are going to retire. At $300/hr, they're going to hang around and make more money. Nobody's leaving before April of 2017, if they want to collect the second half of that signing bonus.
