SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 5, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Virgin America will mark its
first year of flying with birthday celebrations for guests and teammates at its
home base of San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on August 8, 2008. The
birthday festivities will also include the debut of the newest member of the
airline's fleet, an Airbus A320 named "The 1-Year Old Virgin."
After just one year flying, the carrier that is reinventing domestic air travel
has grown to seven destinations and more than 80 flights a day, with a list of
travel industry best-in-class awards, including "Best Domestic Airline" in
Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards. To mark its Virgin year, guests will be
greeted by Virgin America teammates and CEO & President David Cush and feted
with KARMA Champagne, cakes and cupcakes at their arrival and departure gates.
Virgin America is the fastest growing U.S. start-up airline of all time. The
airline has grown from a small staff to over 1300 teammates with service to San
Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, DC, Las Vegas, San Diego and
Seattle.
Are they still hiring and upgrading at a steady pace? Or are there signs of slowing?
I think they are still accepting resumes and should be hiring, we are doing pretty damn good compared to others, I still dont like Mr.Cush, but I really don't believe he is the 'rudder' of this ship. Last upgrade I saw was about a month and a half ago-so I think internally things are going on swimmingly, just with a freeze on hiring. Ill send out an email and find out for you.

Why don't you like Cush? Wasn't he the #1 draft pick in "Jerry McGuire"?
(Seriously, why the beef? He hasn't been there long enough to screw up...)
That's pretty harsh. VX is nowhere near Skybus in rock-bottom wages, and their Captains are making good coin because they fly 85-90 hrs per month, only working 15 days. Different animal.

It's not "good coin" if you want to live in (or anywhere near) San Francisco.
