They are buying the Jet-A in South America and tankering as much back with them as possible... .80 cents a gallon

As much as its gonna be hard for them to get off the ground I wish them the best of luck and thanking them for opening some jobs for pilots atleast.

The ones that scream the loudest are the first ones that have sent in their resumes.

I do hope this company succeeds, just to create something positive in a not so positive time.

As funny as it may seem, this might not be the worst time to start an airline. Think about it.

The cost of money is ridiculously low; the price of fuel in the U.S. is reasonably stable (for now); aircraft are available and aircraft leasing companies, like their automotive leasing "cousins" are making some great long term lease deals plus there is a glut of available pilots who want to work.

If you're flying to Central and South America, one can tanker the bulk of your fuel requirements and still charge for international travel. I know of a charter operator, in the Caribbean, who is doing well and expanding his route structure into 3 new markets. Crazy as it might seem on the surface, this just might work.

Just my two cents, devalued to $ .000187254 on today's market close.

Hasta La Vista and G'Day Baby

PS- The scenery is getting much better thanks to A330Checkairman & CTPilot. Thanks

Wow, interesting. While I understand there are probably many (those who worked for EA) that would like to see it RIP, and let me preface that I never worked for them, I remember flying them as a kid, I think it would be kind of cool to see that logo flying again. I think a more interesting question about this upstart would be, are these guys going to use N-numbered aircraft so the pilots employed would be american pilots, or is it going to turn into an overseas operation that happens to land in Miami, basically shutting out pilots with Faa certs. That would make me sick to see an airline flying as a foreign carrier using the Eastern Logo. Oh well only time will tell if this thing even gets off the ground.

Taca has been operating as a Part 129 carrier since it started up. Their pilots are flying under an FAA certificate while the bulk of them are from Salvador.

Family Airlines... is this the one where you apply, then they send you an application to fill out for a $50 fee?

Lotsa money to be made there.
