There are enough people left who still remember Eastern Airlines, especially in the Miami area, that the brand is at least still worth something as far as public recognition goes.
It's helped them get some press, at least more than if they had made up a new name.

As MRR said, they're going for the name rec and hoping they'll get more from that than the negative from folks burned during the downfall.

MIA seems like a tough market to start back in. With all the competition of the legacy carriers not to mention low cost carriers makes me wonder what Easterns business plan is to capture market share. Might be good timing with improved Cuban relations and fuel prices low. Anyone know if they are going after ticket price or amenities?

Hopefully this time they will keep their airplanes cleaner looking on the outside. When I was flying for them I was always embarrassed to be flying that 727 with the streaking, chipping, falling off paint scheme.
