[FONT=ARIAL,][SIZE=2][COLOR=Black]Saw this on Airliners.net. Haven't done too many SFO flights lately. Are there gate constraints in the United terminal? This sounds similar to how CAL operated the "business" flights out of the A concourse in EWR (ATL, BOS, DCA, ORD) for awhile before turning that into an all express location.
Per airport memo, effective June 1st, United Airlines will resume operations at SFO Terminal-1 (old CO gates).
All UA/UAX departures for Southern California (with exception of 777/744 equipment subs) will utilize Terminal 1. Terminal 1 ops will consist of 6-gates and feature a UA ticket counter and baggage claim area.
The UA/CO operations had been previously consolidated into Terminal-3, however due continued gate constraints along with growth in the flight schedule the shift back to Terminal-1 became necessary.
As noted, the SoCal flights tend to have a high percentage of local O&D flow, so while not the most convenient for transfers, the local nature of the flights will minimize this.
SFO airport will update the roadway and terminal signage to reflect this change.
