I'd suggest that you keep your paper logbook until you get your first "big" aviation job. (Instructing doesn't count). You can keep an "identical" electronic logbook along side as well so that when you finally transition away from paper, it's a breeze.

I have paper logbooks that start with day one and go through my first 6 months flying at the regionals. After that, I just never kept the paper up.

Now my primary logbook is an excel spreadsheet (formatted to look like a Jepp logbook). Generally speaking, I don't worry about logging dual received at this point, but when I have dual received that I do want to log, I enter a line in the back of my last paper logbook that is identical to the line I enter in my electronic logbook. The paper log gets signed by the CFI, the electronic does not.

All of the above (paper logs + printout of the electronic log) go with me when I interview.
