JollyF15 saidoc's get paid to save lives, we get paid to do a very difficult job well. Are peoples lives on the line? In some cases yes, but it's not a life and death job on a daily basis.

Just a little research will show that doctors kill far more people by accident, to the tune of hundreds of thousands a year, than pilots. So one might say we are far more adept at preserving life on an average basis than Doctors.

Here is how doctors killed 7,000 people in a year, it really is just a drop in the bucket compared to the total.
