Oh good to know that 1500 is the standard. Honestly there is nothing else id rather do in life that I can justify myself going to school for. But Your point is well taken and I understand why people do it that way.

Any degree will work. Will probably have to flight instruct until u get about 1500 hours to apply for the regionals by the time you are ready for them. JetBLUE would be probably somewhere in the 4000 hour mark with some good recommendations. Keep the dream alive and do it.

No I didn't maybe Ill find it eventually. I was mainly looking if anyone had and first hand experience with UVU in all honesty. That's the main thing I wanted but I have learned some other things thankfully here I didn't ask.

You will meet minimums at some places with a 2-year degree, but you will definitely be limiting your options. 4-year degree in the subject of your choosing should be your goal.
My plan is to now possible going though Embry Riddle's global program after I get all my ratings for my bachlors degree.

Get your AA degree from UVU and then roll right into the BSc program. As far as an aviation degree or not so you can be diversified: get it in aviation. Use your ratings to get the degree quicker=money saved and having that piece of paper for your dream job sooner.
I was seriously considering UVU but sadley they were not too helpful over the phone. The fact is I live out of state and all I wanted was to figure some information about them and how schedules would go, how the flying would be reported as I learned there is a certain progress I should be making per semester ( I think I heard I need to have my private down by the first semester) well good luck to anyone in Washington State starting that in Winter Quarter! But the VA office still hasn't called back. Their program works with any flight school apparently so the one I was looking at doesn't have any information to me about UVU and how to get started. I didn't learn who to call to get some help. They just seemed like they wanted to rush me off the phone. I haven't been to their website since now and I have decided on Green River College here in Washington. They were very helpful right away. The VA person called me back within the hour and I have a meeting setup for next week. I called the flight school they use (Galvin Flying Services) and boy was I impressed with their fleet and how I can get every rating I need there. Green River didn't have this flight institution as a contract when I joined the service last summer so I wasn't thinking about them until just the other day. Their prices are kinda high if you look at their chart. I called them and was told that Green River students get the lower of the 2 amounts and I asked what has he seen from people in the service and was told money was never an issue for them therefore I am much more optimistic now even with all the money I signed up for. Hopefully after I make CFI I/II here I can take a look at Embry Riddle again for that Bachelors degree. They told me their program is only for people how have earned all their ratings and such and the main campus in Daytona is for folks that need to earn their ratings while getting their degree. All in all I'm excited for that Green River has to show me. I actually used to work with someone about 3 years ago at Seattle Tacoma Airport who got their Private License from there so I am confident they are not a waste of time. I thank everyone for their input in this. You only live once and everyone should still try their hardest to get their dream job as a toddler.
