I worked it the other way by determining what time wasn't PIC. Other, student, co-pilot, etc and I was conservative. I did a simple spreadsheet to help me on the math and I kept a copy available if I had to defend the numbers. A few hundered hours probably won't make a big difference versus getting caught padding your numbers.
