Thanks for the comical advice!! I do agree with everything you suggested. I just might have to stick w/ the King and grind out a few years. Ex employee of SWA so guess in the meantime I should bust out with redeveloping my connections there. I think it really is who you know so maybe a little KingAir guy with 1000pic and a type might get in some day. So you work for?....

The only thing that matters at Alaska Airlines or any other airline for that matter is who you know. Your time could be in a King Air or the space shuttle and it wouldn't matter unless you had someone significant (senior captain or well liked FO)that is pulling for you on the inside. Alaska hasn't hired for a long time so it might take a few years for all the friends, family and military superstars to get hired that have been backlogged for a long time now. If you don't know anyone there then attend a few Job Fairs and politely pester the HR girls. They are young and tend to like single guys more. It can take sometime to work an interview out of them and whatever you do stay away from Horizon Air. Alaska claims to be in favor of hiring Horizon guys but they hire Skywest three to one over Horizon. I would avoid getting a 737 type. Alaska has a low self image and is always afraid that you will use them to get on with another company. If they see a 737 type they will think that your true aim is to get on with SWA. Watching the judge Aleto confirmation hearings reminds me of my Alaska interviews.
