GUM is wicked fah away. I mean hell and gone. Its in the West Pac, closer to NRT, HKG, & MNL than HNL.

Its a hub for CAL because its cheaper to fly from NRT, spend a long weekend in a 5 star resort and golf for 3 days than it is to play one round in Tokyo.

If you dive, you must go. Some of the very best scuba on the planet is on CAL's island network. Palau, Yap, Truk, Ponhpei, Kosrae, Kwaj & Maj are the Micronesian islands CAL goes to. http://www.trip-n-tour.com/ Has some good information.

On the negative: Everything is more expensive. There are lots of snakes. It gets hit by typhoons regularly. Its wicked far.

On the positive: Its drop dead beautiful. Every CAL pilot I've talked to who's ever flow there loves the place. Its an opportunity you won't want to take when you're not so young or not so single. Cape Air is a nice place to work - everybody really likes being there.

Unless you've got family keeping you stateside, go for it!
