You can choose any base you want. I should point out that many management positions (CEO, Chief Pilot, Director of Ops, Head of human resources...) are different people now than a year or so ago. And definitely different than the last time we hired. So hard to say if any new policies are in place. In the past they said they like NYC based people as that is our most busy base, but I don't know if that would really give you much of an edge. A lot of people like more than 1.5 hours, but many have a crash pad or relatives or friends so they can say that the night before they start a trip they will technically be in their base. If you tell them that you plan to commute from provo utah they might raise an eyebrow, but as long as it's semi-resonable you shouldn't have a problem. Just dont try and hide it, just talk about how you are aware of the rule and this is how I'm going to make sure I never miss a trip.
Thanks for the info! I just said ORD/MDW because it would be the closest base to where I live (MI).
What are the schedules like? Days on/off rotation? Any idea how they look on 121 guys for hiring?
