Skywest does not pay during training and will continue to do so until pilots get the hint not to apply. I don't know about you but I can't survive without a paycheck for 2+ months. If someone can, must be nice to not have financial obligations.

Sorry but that's a pet peeve of mine - if a company is going to hire a person, the company should pay normal wages for the position from day one.

I will confirm that Skywest does not pay during training. Yes, it sucks and we really want to change that. And you're right, as long as there are people willing to do it, then it won't really change. I don't know what's worse, 2 months no pay or 2+ weeks vacation time used plus 6 grand for a type rating (and that's a pet peeve of mine!). Either way, you have to plan ahead financially.
Skywest will put you up in a hotel based on double occupancy. If you want your own room, you pay for half.
