Any answers to this would be appreciated.

I have a Commercial MEL and passed the ATP "written" a couple of months ago. My understanding has been that I can take the multi ATP ride any time within two years of the written exam date without worrying about the CTP requirements.

Now I'm being told by multiple sources that after 1 Aug, the CTP does kick in and must be completed before I can take the ATP ride.

That is completely inconsistent with what I've seen in the FAR's. One "expert" from a well know aviation organization even suggeted that after 1 Aug, a multiengine "written exam" is also required?

Even my local FSDO wasn't sure if you can believe that!
