This would be a major change in the contract and our system. I think it would be a HUGE improvement.

Variable Days Off Bid:
Currently, we owe the company 17 days of work. Some guys want to work more and make more money, others want to be home more. Another large aviation organization had this same situation, and went to varying days off, by bid. This This system would have a 6 or 12 month bid. Everyone bids for 15/17/19 days of work during that 6 or 12 month bidding period.

One Option:
1/3 of the crew force has 15 days of work. 1/3 of the crew force has 17 days of work. 1/3 of crew force has 19 days of work.
-This costs the company almost $0, and it makes the crew force happier, as some guys get to stay home more, while other guys get to work more.
-X Day pay would remain the same, in other words, the guy with 15 days of work would get $X for working his 16th day, and the guy with 19 days of work would get the same $X for his 20th day of work.

Second Option:
25% of the crew force has 15 days of work, 50% has 17 days of work, 25% has 19 days of work.

Third Option...this is if we reduced our required work days to 16 days of work:
1/3 of crew force works 14 days, 1/3 works 16 days, 1/3 works 18 days.

There are multiple options on how to distribute the days of work. Ideally, the union would conduct a survey and find out what percentage of pilots wants to work more, and wants to work less, to get a system where everyone gets what they want.

I welcome all comments, feedback, suggestions, improvements, etc.

God Bless and namaste
