If you want to understand leadership read "About Face" by Lt Col David Hackworth, 1000+ pages about one of America's greatest warriors of all time. Being the Captain isn't really that hard if you understand the position. Whats hard, are the things that aren't in the book.
I'm good. I have read more than my share of leadership books and have far greater breadth of leadership experience than most Captains in the regional airlines. You can lecture me about leading troops when you've actually lead troops.
Also, "read, understand, type" doesn't mean anything the way you're using it.
