Has nothing to do with corporate culture? Maybe it has nothing to with how YOU feel about the company but it's certainly part of the culture of inc. None of us here want to burn anything down. That's a misconception that probably comes from the kool aid served there. Sure, none of us want to take ANY concessions but that doesn't mean we don't work with management to come to mutually agreeable solutions. For example, as we speak, the union is negotiating cost neutral PBS work rules. Also, you are more like non-union because of apathy and ignorance than anything else. Even at the lower spectrum regionals you don't see 10 days off minimum or an average line value over the upper 80s. People just don't know any better.

You aren't just competing with Skywest you're competing with all the regionals more specifically 145 operators such as TSA that are cheaper and hence win RFPs.

We are whipsawed twice! Once against all the regionals by mainline management and again against you by our own management. Again, I don't understand how reasonable people can't see that. Also, they are no longer asking us for concessions. In fact, since we voted down the TA, they've made improvements (slight) to our contract. So what changed in the market? The fact is that we were willing and still are willing to make concessions if they merged everyone. But the corporate culture doesn't allow it. Our CEO continues to say no even though all the synergies they touted back in 2010 when they bought xjt would only be amplified with a merger of everything.

No sir, this isn't about markets or competing. There is an overlying corporate culture that prevents all of us from truly working together as ONE company to make Inc more profitable. They rather do it in a way that makes us compete against each other (after having to compete against other regionals) in order to suppress our wages. The fact that they rather to that TO US rather than working WITH US to make us more profitable is the essence of culture.
