But now its 2015, no paranoia, and even with revising estimates downward, all major carriers are expected to make more money than they've ever made. Delta is on pace to make over $6B this year. So what is the fear? We have better profit sharing in the current contract, we have guaranteed industry pay raises if in fact we do get parked (very slim chance of that happening), and we have all the leverage in the world right now.
The likelihood is a counteroffer already exists and is waiting to be executed by management should this TA get voted down. Look back at the sacrifices pilots before you made when they earned major contractual gains they deserved. They didn't get it by taking the first offer, and they didn't get it through fear and self degradation. You are worth more than this. I'll say it again. You are worth more than this. Erase the military training, this isn't "mission" anymore. This is business. You are worth more than this.
I hear you Ghillis..but just imagine if Johnny Jihad flys a couple 76's into DC, NYC and LAX tomorrow. That's what 1310 of us lived thru 15 years ago right after we signed C2K. You will be furloughed. You won't be able to go to AMR cause they'll also be furloughing..along with everybody else. You may think Delta is a set to make over $6B this year, and I'd agree with you, but just one event will kill all that leverage you think we have in our pocket. I've been through 5 displacements to pay cuts to furlough..it ain't fun. I say lock in some PS, keep more PS going forward, and lock in furlough protection for you and 1600 other new hires with this TA. Your future is bright with DL..this TA makes it brighter. You'll be a 190 Captain in 2 yrs at mainline. No DCI guys will replace you. You're airline will be strong and secure in the front of the pack. Vote you're conscience...I'm gonna vote my history..and vote yes.
