Default FedEx Current vs Delta TA

INDUSTRY LEADING?

These facts may have been shared, but I just wanted to bring to light some of the lies and deceptions we may be falling for. FedEx pilots easily earn 30-40% more overall compensation than our TA and they're in negotiations holding out for a proper TA.

The following numbers are pulled from the ALPA distributed packet titled "DELTA PILOTS' CONTRACT COMPARISON 2015" and from FedEx pilots themselves. The vacation accrual/pay and daily guarantee are pulled from the ALPA 2015 contract comparison packet. I merely applied the math to show the disparity. The vacation slide and health insurance comes from FedEx pilots themselves.

The equipment pay rates are also in the contract comparison, just cleverly buried and somewhat omitted. ALPA did reference FedEX pay banding, but that is as far as they went. They left out the fact that the 777, MD11, MD10, A300, A310, AND 767 pilots ALL make what the 777 pilots make. So, roughly 75% of their pilot group earn 777 rates. ALPA shows the FedEx rates on the 777 table/graph but makes no mention of them on the 767-400/A330 or 767 table/graphs. They could have included the MD11 and A300 with a comparison to the 767-400 and A330 but they didn't. And again, ALPA completely omitted FedEx on the 767 table/graph. Also, buried under the 777 pay table is a small footnote indicating that FedEx pilots last pay increase was 3/01/2012...i.e. they're long overdue for a raise. FedEx pension and "B" fund is listed in the contract comparison, but again, ALPA presents no value on that. Here are a few examples:

VACATION

FedEx maxes out at 36 days vacation, DAL 35
FedEx 6 hours per day for 216 hours per year
DAL 3.5 hours per day for 122.5 hours per year
FedEx pilots earn 93.5 hours per year additional vacation pay
If a DAL pilot credits 80 per month, that equals 960 hours per year.
So, a FedEx pilot earns roughly 10% more compensation per year in vacation pay alone.

DAILY PAY/CREDIT

FedEx earns 6 hours MINIMUM per day.
DAL pilots receive 5:15 average daily guarantee.
FedEx pilots make roughly 15% more per day guarantee.
If a DAL pilot works 16 days a month, at 5:15 ADG, he'll earn 84 hours of pay.
If a FedEx pilot works the same 16 days, they'll earn 96 hours, or an additional 144 hours per year; or, they'll have to work less days to earn the same DAL 84 hours.

OTHER

FedEx pilots can slide vacation to knock out trips with pay.
FedEx pilots health insurances is a fraction of what ours costs and they only have a $20 copay, NO deductible.
FedEx 777 captains make a little less than DAL captains only because they've been in negotiations for a few years. You can all but guarantee their rates will at least match an probably exceed ours. Now, ALPA was quick to point out FedEx 777 rates compared to DAL 777 rates. In ALPA's typical 'half truth' presentation, they left out a few important FedEx pay rates. Namely:

FedEx MD11 compare to DAL A330
FedEx A300/A310 compare to DAL 767-400
FedEx 767 compare to DAL 767

Why omit these, because FedEx MD11, MD10, A300, A310, and 767 pilots all make the same as their 777 pilots (which I'm confident will be more than our 777 pilots). How much do our 767 pilots make...hmmm...757 pay last I checked. How does DAL 767-400, A330, and 767 pay compare to the 777? Apparently an oversight by ALPA.

How's that code share and joint venture at FedEx? None. I don't see nearly 50% of their domestic freight flown on outsource carriers or anyone else flying their freight over seas. (During the Christmas rush, FedEx will utilize some Kalitta or other aircraft to handle the surplus volume of which the FedEx pilots receive large compensation as if they flew it themselves, no three years of non-compliance by the company only to have them re-write the rules in their favor like DAL)

There's another nugget of compensation FedEx guys receive that ALPA like to gloss over...A FULL PENSION! And, if thats not enough, a "B" fund as well. Why don't we start there....re-instate my pension and then start the negotiations. How much is that pension worth ALPA????

The value of the FedEx pilots work rules, rigs, vacation compensation, equipment banding to the highest paid piece of equipment narrow body/wide body, AND PENSION so far exceed our contract it's staggering. Plus, they're standing firm in their negotiations. Undoubtedly, they will get our pay rates and probably exceed them with back pay to boot.

Their pension alone dwarfs our concessionary TA.

I could go on an on, but with my blood pressure rising and with my inability to utilize my sick time if this TA passes, I'd best not.

PLEASE continue to get the facts out and allow people to see through these ALPA "half truths" and "look at this shiny object over here" propaganda.
