As long as you fly well and know the aircraft, you will have no problems upgrading...Most pilots do upgrade while many don't...Upgrade is solely based on the upgrade interview and training records...If you don't pass the upgrade interview the first time then you will most likely be an FO for the remainder of your career at Qatar Airways...There are exceptions but very few...Flying as FO in Qatar Airways is still not a bad option as you earn a tax free package of $156,000 per year...To earn the same amount in the U.S net of taxes, you would have to earn $250,000...The only guys earning $250,000 per year in the U.S are legacy B777/747 Captains in their 25th year with their Legacy...So spending your entire career as an FO at Qatar Airways is still more lucrative than a U.S. Legacy job....Not to say that pilots at U.S legacies don't enjoy their jobs or pay but these are just some of the financial facts...
