As a Sim Instructor at 9E, I highly recommend studying your basic IFR skills. Also, if you do not have any time flying glass cockpits, start reviewing that. I find the biggest struggles come from weak scans and weak IFR knowledge.
I was asking because from my experience at FlightSafety and CAE they give you pre-study material. I've just been used to having homework before initial.
