The lanyard is important and I support everyone wearing it but even some of the union die hards are still releasing the brake early to get the on time. Despite multiple requests from the union to stop doing this. If we can't even be unified on following company SOP, and what the union has asked of us, how can we expect anything to change?
By releasing that brake, yes you start to get paid. But you also give that on time to the company when it should not have happened. They can continue to drive down turn times and be supported by the pilots because we keep doing it. When they cite the infinitesimally small number of delays casued by late pilots, they neglect the large number of delays prevented by releasing the brake early.
Anyway, that's my .02 for wahtever its worth.
