Looking forward to doing this ourselves in a few years, been doing some research ahead of time. Keep in mind you can typically only stay for 90 days on a tourist visa unless someone in your family gets a work permit. Otherwise you have to vacate the EU (Schengen zone) for 90 days and come back.

Good tips here ... https://www.nomadicmatt.com/travel-b...-than-90-days/

Our general plan is to hang out for 90 days at a time and then come back home or hit one of the non-EU countries for another 90 then return. Who knows, sounds like a fun adventure and seemingly works best for those working one or two trips a month to minimize the commute.
