Do you just HAVE to be a Captain? You can be a 787 or 777 FO at United and make $200 - $230 per hour after a couple years, but it is going to take 10+ years to make Captain at Southwest to make the same money. Also at United you'll have the option to be a Captain on something besides a 737. United also flies 757 and 767 out of DEN, and commuting to widebody isn't too difficult.
