This doesn't make a lot of sense. You have to live in base, if you're on your 10 day (or 8) rotation why not just have an hour call out.
What time do these 14 hour sits start?
Good question, as I'm sure you're not the only one looking for a little clarification. We strategically use Standby FBO to be able to rapidly address customer needs due to rare pop-ups, and maintenance events. For a 10/5 pilot to be assigned Standby FBO, they must have had at least one Standby Home day in their current rotation. Pilots on the 8/6 schedule do not have that requirement. Remember, though, Standby FBO is only in base. That means that the night before Standby Home or FBO was spent in the pilot's own bed. Standby FBO days are rarely more than 10 hours and usually around 8. To my knowledge, EAS has never had a pilot sit Standby FBO for 14 hours. Standby FBO days usually start in the morning between 6-8am. If you think about it, our 8/6 schedule is simply the best in the industry. At worst it is 8 out, 6 off. However, you very well may see 2-3 nights in your own bed, and a Standby Home day during the 8. Hopefully this information was helpful!
