Depending on the aircraft type - yes they occasionally fly with the AD Flight Check.

And on a related note, I've noticed from some online searches that the FAA aircraft are in other countries from time to time. How often are these "deployment opportunities" available?
There are aircraft dong international flight inspection on an almost consistent basis. These 'international itineraries' last from as few as two weeks to as long as 4-5 weeks if the trip is extended and the crews agree to stay out.

And finally, can you go straight into one of the jets, is a new hire always going to go to the King Air, or are you duel qual'd?
It is possible to go straight into one of the jets.
The dual qual comes and goes. Right now - it is an 'IN' thing and we have quite a few dual qual'ed people. You do not have to be dual qual'ed if you don't want to be though.
