How is it in the US?
Our regs require us to have an ATP license, which has a minimum time requirement of 1500 hours. So let's say we can get our commercial with 250 minimum, we still need some way to get another 1250 hours before we can legal work for an airline. The goal is to get those hours as fast as possible, so working as an instructor is typically the best way. At busy schools, it is not unheard of for those guys to log between 100 to 120 hours. Although for most decent places, 60-80 is more realistic.
