Yes. Latest information here (pretty authoritative) is 40 a class then ramp up to 50 towards the end. (Remember only 1 class in Dec due to the holidays, which is normal.)
If 40 continues, hires will be in 880 - 890 range.
Early in the year (and still listed here on APC) was a forecast of 900. (This was much debated, I still have scars to prove it!)
Recently, people have said the forecast is 930.
If the last few classes increase to 50 a class, the answer to your question is, “Yes, pretty much spot on.”
For reference, 2017 had 645 hires.
