I would be trying to commute from the west coast if at all possible as a new hire. With a move to the Islands in a year or two.

Reserve isn’t great. All short call and the Reserve Availability Periods change at desire of scheduling the day prior. Cannot pickup trips or swap reserve days easily. Only saving grace is can usually get all 12 days off in a row to help commute, if you’re a commuter. No idea on current reserve times.
P.S. Commuting on company metal is often more painful than offline. I wouldn’t do it first year.
