That’s not what I’m concerned about. I get that storms happen and planes break down. What I’m concerned about is the company deciding to reassign a pilot into a day off due to lack of staffing. We’re likely not there today, but in a year or 2 from now I expect they’re going to run leaner on staffing and I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to push the language about being reassigned within the footprint of the original pairing.
I understand the concerns and don't disagree. However, if they are overworking us a year or 2 from now due to lack of staffing, I guess I may end up being fatigued more often as well. I expect to work a certain amount of time, and if the amount of home time and rest is significantly reduced then, yes, I'll likely not be fit to fly. I imagine many would feel similar, thus I don't expect the company to significantly abuse this.
