Big change in last mile cost structure to do that. FedEx Ground is all contractor trucks and employees. Same as Uber and Lyft, who also do some package delivery. And from what I understand, Amazon drivers in trucks painted Amazon are also private contractors. Even the richest man in the world does not pay bennies unless he is forced to.
Last mile delivery needs to be very cost competitive.
