It may, but to avoid that Planning only needs to keep building most of the lines the way they do now such as CVG/BAH/HKG/LAX/LEJ/LAX. Or the reverse of that. Of course there are many variations when you include the other 7 stations we serve, but the main idea would be to avoid returning to base and needing to double-out any flights over 12 hours thus maximizing the efficiency of the crews.
Being short pilots on the 777 is not going to end in the foreseeable future. Nor will pilots being junior assigned well past their already 17-20 days.
