If you carry an electric razor, either take the batteries out when in transit, or turn them around or turn one around, so it won't run inadvertently if the switch is bumped.

I use one of the gilette razors with the five blades, the kind that has a disposable cartridge. That razor stays sharp for a long time, which means less stuff to carry, though I carry several spare cartridges anyway. For shaving cream I use one of the little barbasol travel cans; they're small, last a long time, take up little room in a shaving kit. For longer trips (month or two) I may have a couple of cans, and can always get something on the road.

At home I use a bar of shaving soap and a brush, but it's a pain when in and out of hotel rooms, so a little can works better.

A razor with disposable cartridges is light, takes up very little room, gives a great shave, and will never be an issue with TSA.
