Meeting in ops may or may not be necessary, but if your company policies require you to meet in ops on the first flight of a pairing, and you blow that off without any attempt to communicate that to the other guy, then yeah, I have to agree with M5000 that it's inconsiderate behavior. That's just a basic courtesy thing that transcends someone's level of aviation experience.
